Lesson #141 Mansions

John 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2; In my Father’s house there are many mansions (KJV), abiding places (ABUV), resting places (Rieu), dwellings (TCNT), rooms (NIV/RSV), dwelling places (Amp), Greek ‘mone’, or Aramaic “a’wa-na”.

When we look at any great palace or mansion, we find different areas with different functions. In God’s House, there are many rooms differing from one another. The Greek word ‘mone’ (pronounced mo-nay’) is found in the new testament twice. The other time later in verse 23 of the same chapter translated as abode, or special dwelling place.

There are spiritual dwelling places in God’s house that we have been invited to. When the Lord knocks on our door (Rev 3:20, 21) and we have overcome the world of doubt (Heb 11:6), worry, fear, and disbelief (1 John 4:4) accepting his invitation; Jesus said we will come and make our ‘abode’ with him (v 23). Then we sit with Him in these heavenly places. This story will look at different rooms of the house of God.

Jesus said we would go in and out the door (John 10:9). After we originally become born-again we can make conscious choices to disobey the Spirit’s guidance and get guidance from the flesh or world, however, the longer we stay in ‘the house’ (not a physical, but a spiritual house) the better we can renew our mind and get to know our Lord and develop a hunger for not only going back, but making a permanent residence there (Rev 3:12), pressing for the mark of the High calling of God. To the natural man, the thoughts of the Father are not His thoughts (Is 55:8, 9), but for the born again, the Spirit reveals them to us from the House of God (1 Cor 2:10).

There is nothing like our first experiences of the House of God. When we are first born-again, baptized by water or with the Holy Ghost, we are personally filled with His Spirit & welcomed into the House. The purpose of this message is to give you a brief tour of the House of the many things to do and see there. And of course for you to take your “keys” and go back at any time to the presence of the Lord and His angels. Let’s tour together into twelve “dwelling places” that most of us have been before.

Whatever our Father has is ours (Luke 15:31/1 Cor 3:21) In our ‘premarital’ time we can approach our King as Esther did (Es 5:1, 2) and sit in heavenly places freely (Eph 2:6).

There are certain things that come naturally when you dwell there for a while. I.E; Daily communion, tithing, praise and worship. You can dwell for so long that fear, worry, doubt and unbelief can’t touch you or even speak to you (Phil 4:7).

When people see that you’re living there (not just visiting), they know the address where God lives and will rightfully call you Christian. Welcome Home!
